As exploration targets become more difficult and complex, the technologies required to find and produce them are becoming increasingly more sophisticated. The targets are often structurally complex folds, faults, steeply dipping layers, fault blocks, or very heterogeneous lithology that changes quickly laterally. In many cases the acquisition conditions are also challenging as in sub-salt or sub-volcanic plays.
